For years, locals walking past the faded Days Inn at 155 Meeting Street have known what’s coming next. The budget motel’s fate has been sealed since late 2022, when the property was tapped for South Carolina’s first Four Seasons Hotel and Residences.
Now, there’s an update — and a delay.
Time, Pushed Back
Demolition of the former Days Inn, once expected in late 2025, has officially been pushed to early 2026, nudging the project’s completion date to 2029.
According to the Post & Courier, early site work is already underway, including upgrades to the city’s underground stormwater system — the first step before demolition begins.
“This is a pivotal moment in the realization of this extraordinary project,” a Strategic Property Partners executive told the Post & Courier.
Before the Building Comes Down
Before the wrecking ball swings, several pieces still need to fall into place.
A sales office for the private residences is expected to open on nearby King Street in early 2026. Archaeological work will also be conducted to document any historic elements on the site, according to the Post & Courier.
When It Finally Rises
When completed, the Four Seasons development will include 139 guest rooms, 36 private residences, multiple restaurants, a spa and fitness center, an outdoor pool, and 7,000 square feet of event space.
Private residences will start at $5 million, with full access to hotel amenities.
For now, the Days Inn still stands — a familiar downtown holdover, waiting for its final chapter.
