Strength training for women over 50, coached by Kim. Wednesdays at 8:30am at Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park. Free, and nothing to sign up for.

Charleston's workout map keeps getting more crowded. The Post & Courier rounded up eight new or coming gyms and studios this week, and one pattern jumps out fast: four of the eight are Pilates or reformer-based.

Here's the rundown, with what's open now and what's still a promise.

TOGETHER WITH ISMASH CHARLESTON

15% off Charleston's only rage room through Oct. 31

Pick your room, grab a sledgehammer and let the week go. A year in, the owner's favorite part is watching people walk out lighter. Rough week, birthday, team outing or a date that isn't dinner. Code CHSHAPPENINGS, sessions only, not parties.

Open now

Legion Performance Club, 900 Muhly Grass St. in Carolina Park. Family-run, built around group training, sports performance and recovery, with a cold plunge and heat sessions. It's also Charleston's official HYROX training facility, if you've been wondering where people are learning to push a sled.

FEATURED EVENT · PRESENTED BY DERMHAUS

Dermhaus Fall Open Haus, Saturday October 24, 10 AM to 1 PM, 320 Broad Street, Suite 103, Charleston. Free entry.

SATURDAY, OCT. 24 · 10AM-1PM · 320 BROAD ST., SUITE 103

Charleston's newest dermatology practice opens its doors. Tour the space, meet the team, shop local vendors, graze the charcuterie and take 20% off everything that day.

The Sweat Sanctuary, 40B Archdale St. downtown, plus a Mount Pleasant studio at 918 Lansing Drive. Reformer and mat Pilates with small classes. The Post & Courier reports members can reserve childcare, which is the kind of perk that decides whether a workout actually happens.

solidcore, 141 Williman St. downtown. Fifty-minute, low-impact strength classes on the chain's custom reformer machines, per the Post & Courier.

Cielo Pilates Studio, 49 Archdale St., opened in September with group and private sessions, the Post & Courier reports. Yes, that's the same block as Sweat Sanctuary. Archdale is apparently where Pilates goes to compete.

Coming soon

Jane DO, 70 Folly Road, and btone FITNESS, 1281 Folly Road, both on Folly Road with no opening dates yet, according to the Post & Courier. Jane DO mixes strength, cardio and flexibility; btone is reformer-based.

Fly Dance Fitness, 664-B Long Point Road in Mount Pleasant. Dance cardio with a nightclub feel. Its site still says coming soon.

Ethos Athletic Club, 1620 Midtown Ave. in Mount Pleasant. This is the big one: roughly 20,000 square feet over two stories, with saunas, steam rooms, cold plunges, co-working, childcare, a cafe and a rooftop training deck. When it broke ground last fall the target was late 2026. The Post & Courier now puts it at spring 2027. The original Ethos on Huger Street downtown opened in 2021.

Count it up: Mount Pleasant and downtown get most of the action, Sweat Sanctuary plants a flag in both, and Folly Road gets two. If you've been meaning to try something new, you're running out of excuses.
