There's a newly built restaurant on Ira Road in Mount Pleasant that has never served a single plate. It finally has someone to run it, and it isn't a small name.

Neighborhood Dining Group, the outfit behind Husk, Marbled & Fin and the brand-new Cheeky on Meeting Street, will operate a restaurant at 1434 Ira Road, just off Highway 17 by the I-526 overpass. Target opening: summer 2027.

TOGETHER WITH ISMASH CHARLESTON

15% off Charleston's only rage room through Oct. 31

Pick your room, grab a sledgehammer and let the week go. A year in, the owner's favorite part is watching people walk out lighter. Rough week, birthday, team outing or a date that isn't dinner. Code CHSHAPPENINGS, sessions only, not parties.

What will it be? Nobody's saying. The company says the name and the menu are still being worked out. That's the whole tease right now, and I'm not going to pretend I know more.

If the address rings a bell, it should. This was supposed to be Frank & Jack's. In spring 2025 the Post & Courier laid out that plan: a dining room and bar, a big lawn with a live music stage and a walk-up bar window, even a standalone ice cream shack, all on a two-acre lot. Opening was penciled in for late summer 2025.

Dermhaus Fall Open Haus

SATURDAY, OCT. 24 · 10AM-1PM · 320 BROAD ST., SUITE 103

Charleston's newest dermatology practice opens its doors. Tour the space, meet the team, shop local vendors, graze the charcuterie and take 20% off everything that day.

Late summer 2025 came and went. The doors never opened. According to the Post & Courier, the developer says a personal emergency in the family led the planned management group to walk away.

Now the money. The Post & Courier reports a company tied to Blackbaud founder Tony Bakker bought the roughly 4,600-square-foot building for $5 million, closing Sept. 8. It had been listed earlier this year at $6.95 million.

Translation: somebody picked up a brand-new restaurant building for almost $2 million under the ask, then called the people who run Husk. Not a bad week.

The question I'd most like answered is what happens to the extras. The lawn, the stage, the walk-up window, the ice cream shack. Do they survive the handoff, or does the new concept start from scratch? Nobody's said yet.

Meanwhile NDG has its hands full downtown. Cheeky, its new seafood spot at 151 Meeting St., is open for dinner five nights a week, with all-day service rolling in over the next few weeks and full daily hours expected by mid-November. Lobster spaghetti and bluefin toro sashimi are on the menu, if you want to scout the company before it crosses the bridge.

Mount P gets its turn in summer 2027. The minute there's a name, you'll have it here.
