Happy Friday, Charleston. Iāve got an idea brewing: a CHS Happenings Dinner Club.
Think this: youāre matched with a few new faces, you hit a great restaurant, you share a meal, maybe wander to an afterparty. Simple, fun, very Charleston.
Iām not winging it. Iāll build a quick personality quiz to match the right groups and partner with a killer local spot to host.
What do you think? If youāre into it, Iāll make it real.
Want to join the Dinner Club?
I love talking with Charlestonās makers and doers. Iāve interviewed a bunch of local shop + restaurant folks since launching CHS Happenings, and I want more.
Know a great entrepreneur worth interviewing? Tell me here.
If I end up interviewing them, Iāll buy you a coffee ā literally. $10 gift card to your favorite local spot.
Congrats to Bob K. of Connecticutāyes, locals, you got beat by a repeat winner and someone who doesnāt live hereāwho guessed correctly in our āWhere Are Weā segment last week! I was at The Old Slave Mart Museum at 8 Chalmers Street downtown. Itās Charlestonās oldest museum of African American history and the first museum on the history of slavery in the United States.

NEW BRUNCH SPOT QUIETLY SLIDING ONTO COLEMAN

Walking Coleman this week, I spotted a new sign on the old Handcraft Kitchen & Cocktails space at The Boulevard: Brunches. Simple, no big announcement, just quietly claiming the space.
A little digging shows Brunches started in Wilmington in 2019 and has since expanded into Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and Richmond. Their brand leans into the fun stuff ā their URL is literally mimosasmademedoit.com ā so think easygoing brunch vibes with all the classics: chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy, Benedicts, breakfast tacos, plus mimosas and Bloody Marys built for lingering.
I peeked inside and didnāt see any construction yet, which means itās early in the process. But the sign is up, the intention is clear, and something new is coming to Coleman.
Iāve reached out to the Brunches crew for more details. Iāll keep yāall posted as things develop.
