Happy Friday morning, Charleston! Y’all didn’t know I was the unofficial P.R. person for The Skelly Show, did you? Since we’re dangerously close to Halloween, it’s my annual opportunity to promote this amazing production—that’s truly what it is—that runs every night at 7:00 PM at 605 Pitt Street in the Old Village. Did I say it’s FREE?

Since I started publishing in June of last year, I’ve missed only 1 week: last Halloween when my Mom’s house in Pennsylvania was lost to fire. Thirteen weeks into a training program, I was gearing up to run the Summerville Sweet Tea Half-Marathon—2 days away from the race—when I received a call from my brother that the house was on fire. And thankfully Mom was out running errands.

Insurance companies are often vilified in the popular culture, often for good reason. I’ve said for years they’re in business to collect premiums and NOT pay out.

However, if there’s one area of your life I’d recommend you not opt for bargain-basement coverage, it’s homeowner’s insurance. Mom had stellar coverage which paid for a nice hotel for 3 weeks, a rental home during the rebuild, a brand-new home and furniture (and clothes and pots and pans…).

She’s moving into her new home in 2 weeks.

I feel like I haven’t been giving y’all enough of what you ask for. Events, more events, events!!

After all, 81% of you said in my welcome survey that’s what you’d like to see more of. So here we go! Should the “Main Story” feature give way to more events.

More events v. Main Story?

Congrats to Connor M. of Downtown—a repeat winner, I might add—who was the 1st to guess correctly in our “Where Are We” segment last week! Seems it was much too easy judging by the number of you who quickly and correctly responded I was at The Citadel. To be precise, I was at the southwest corner of the Parade Deck, or Summerall Field.
